Understanding bowel cancer: When you get to 40, get to your doctor

That is the message in the latest bowel cancer community service announcement to be developed and funded by Australian businessman Mr John Singleton, on behalf of The Gut Foundation.

At the heart of Singleton’s campaign is the desire to combat the taboo nature of bowel cancer. What does this mean for you?
Every two hours someone dies of bowel cancer in Australia. It is our second deadliest cancer and most people don’t experience symptoms prior to a diagnosis.

However, the good news is that unlike many other cancers, bowel cancer is preventable and your GP can advise on screening options.
